Seedling:

- Cotyledons very narrow and lengthened (up to 10 times longer than wide).

- Leaves pinnately divided.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 20-60 cm. Plant with a lengthened principal root.

- Stem branched, tufted, spreading.

- Leaves lower in rosette ; upper leaves alternate, blue-green, glabrous. Leaves 2-3-pinnatisect with very thin segments.

- Flowers crimson or white pinky, on short peduncle, in very dense small racemes, more or less lengthened. Corolla 6-7 mm, purple-blotched at the apex. Sepals much broader than the corolla. Bracts usually longer than the fruiting pedicel.

- Fruit : globose and indehiscent capsule with one seed, at first acute tip, then obtuse when ripe. Fruit keeled, rugose when dry.

- Rare in crops.

- Risk of confusion at seedling stage with the other species of Fumaria .

- Biological type: Annual or biennial.
