- Cotyledons very narrow and short (few mm long).
- Leaves entire, linear, acuminate.
- Height: 10-30 cm. Plant pubescent, white-yellowish.
- Stem ascending-erect, irregularly forked above with 2-3 branches, lanate.
- Leaves lanceolate, oblong, slightly mucronate, not tapered at the base, sessile, lanate, grey, downy.
- Flowers light-yellow in roundish heads gathered in cluster of cymes ; clusters terminal or on forks. Involucral bracts purple-pointed.
- Fruit : achene 0.6 mm in diameter. The outer seeds without pappus.
- The hooked fruits remain in the wool of the sheep so this kind of wool is devalued. Young leaves are toxic for the cattle.
