- Height: 40-100 cm.

- Stems all similar grey-green, slightly rough, straight with 8 to 20 convex ribs and a very large central cavity, branched, the longest branches arisen from median nodes. Sheath 15-20 mm, longer than broad, truncate, broadened at the apex, ginger, lanceolate -toothed, scarious, generally persistent.

- Fruiting: spike 8-15 mm, dense, ovoid, mucronate. The sporangia appear from may to september.

- Plant toxic. Plant protected in Haute-Vienne (decree 01/09/89).[France].

- Biological type: Perennial with rhizomes.
