- Leaf blade 10 times longer than wide, leaf more or less hairy.

- Ligule membranous toothed, auricles absent, basal tufts of hairs on each side.

- Stems erect, flattened.

- Leaves flat, shortly acute at the apex

- Inflorescence : 2-7 sail-like spikes terminal or not; spikelets closed on their rhachis, inequal glumes, subequal floral-glumes.

- Fruits : caryopsis glabrous, transversely wrinkled.
