- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, acuminate, sessile.
- Leaves divided, palmate.
- Height: 20-50cm. Plant almost glabrous.
- Stem erect, branched, bristled with short and spreading hairs.
- Basal leaves in rosette, sparsely leaved; 3-lobed leaves. Upper leaves deeply palmate, long-stalked. Leaves pinnate cut into numerous narrow-linear segments.
- Flowers light- or dark-blue in lax panicles, few-flowered. Flowers with a long pedicel. Posterior sepal prolonged into a spur, 2 nectar -secreting petals with spurs contained within the sepal spur. Only one glabrous carpel.
- Fruits glabrous. Seed 2 mm long, dark-brown, rough, undulate with transverse scales and wrinkles.
