- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, with rounded tip, more or less stalked, with a palmate veination (12-8 mm).
- Leaves entire, elliptic or ovate, regularly dentate or with 3 distinct lobes, then with 3 dentate leaflets, hairy beneath.
- Stem sarmentose climbing, until 200 cm, wrapping around the trees and supported by the petioles or branches. Shrubs climbing or creeping with long stems.
- Leaves pinnate, with (3-7) entire leaflets. The terminal one subcordate at the base.
- Flowers white in dense panicles. Flowers with 4 sepals hairy on each side. Anthers 1 to 2 mm long. Perianth segments hairy.
- Fruits mature composed of numerous carpels, brown-greyish, slightly flattened and with long whitish plumose persistent style.
- Rare in crops, becoming a weed in non cultivated perennial cultures. Young seedlings, pickled with vinegar are used as seasonings. In the past this plant was used for basket-work.
