- Stem axis compressed.

- Basal leaves very long stalked in a rosette, blades elliptical to ovate-rhombic, entire, rather fleshy.

- Inflorescences numerous in axils of basal leaves. Flower stem erect or ascending.

2 connate subtending bracts forming a concave suborbicular involucre amid or below the raceme-like inflorescence, overtopped by extended part of stem. Flowers in clusters, inconspicious, 5 to 8 mm in diameter. Petals, 5 (2 to 3 mm) somewhat exeeding the sepals, entire or slightly notched, white, equal.

- Fruits: Capsules opening by valves with 1(to 3) black, shining seeds.
