- Cotyledons elliptic or ovate, with a truncate top, more or less stalked.
- Leaves entire, deeply indentate.
- Height: 20-60 cm. Plant glabrous and glaucous. Somewhat fleshy, waxed, blue-green.
- Stem erect, simple and branched.
- Leaves: the lower in rosette, lanceolate, pinnatifid (3 to 5 deep lobes ). The upper opposite, deeply dissected in numerous dentate and apiculate lobes. Cauline leaves dentate, sessile and amplexicaule.
- Flowers yellow, in broad solitary heads, on thick-tipped pecduncles. Involucre with oblong bracts.
- Fruits : achenes of disk-florets cylindrical and with 10 strong ribs, achenes of ray -florets as long as broad and with 2 lateral wings.
