- Cotyledons in shape of spoon.
- Entire leaves, elliptical to ovate, with entire margin.
- Height: 10-50 cm. Plant green dark, pubescent ; with barren shoots.
- Stem prostrate at base, then ascending.
- Leaves ovate or elliptical with short straight hairs. Lower leaves on sterile shoot, blunt, narrowed to stalk-like base; middle leaves ovate to ovate-elongated, slightly pointed, at tip: 2-4 times longer than wide.
- Flowers small, in dichasial chymes, panicles slightly slack; bracts highly membranous at margin; petals longer than sepals.
- Fruits with unequal teeth erect or nearly flat, in cone at top, 2-3 times longer than sepals which surrounded it. Leaf sheath is narrow persistent.
- Biological type: perennial, but behaves as winter germination annual in arable crops.
