- Stem rough, angular, erect with slender and prostrate or ascending branches.

- Lower leaves petiolate oblong or pinnatifid. Leaves not decurrent hispid.

- Purplish flowers, in capitulum. external flowers slightly shiny. Involucre ovoid rounded at base, bracts terminated by spines ( 3 to 5 sub-equal, short spines).

- Fruit : white achenes slightly greyish, surrounded with white aigret which measures 1/4 or 1/3 length of fruit.

- Biological type: perennial.
