Seedling: Plant propagates vegetatively by tubers ; establishment of seedling are exceptional.

- Height: upto 500 cm. Plant strigose with hairs bulbous at base. Very big cylindrical root.

- Very long stem (liana), slender, rising, terminated with tendril growing in spiral opposite to leaves.

- Leaves palmatilobate, cordate at base, 3-5 pointed lobes - dentate -sinuate.

- Flowers greenish, veined, axillary fascicules(dioecious plant). Male flowers taller and with longer peduncles. Triangular sepals.

- Fruits : small berry (5-8 mm diameter), erect, globulous, smooth, red at maturity, with fetid sap. 4-6 elliptical leaf sheath.

- Decorative plant, fetid sap, root diuretic, emetic, and strongly purgative.

- Biological type: perennial with tubers.
