- Shoot rolled, cylindrical leaf sheath.
- Lamina 20-50 times longer than large, leaf glabrous.
- Ligule membranous pointed margin on leaf sheath; auricles absent.
- Height: 15-50 cm. Cespitose.
- Stem erect sometimes geniculate at base, glabrous.
- Leaves slightly rough, bushy, plan, long (8-15 cm) and large (5-12 mm) attenuated tip. Leaves with veins finely denticulate. Leaf sheath margin simulates auricles, left ligule attached to basal part of lamina.
- Inflorescence: slack panicle, very branched and flat. Small triangular spikelets, pale green rarely purplish.
- Species rare in crops.
