- Shoot rolled, cylindrical leaf sheath (more slender than others Bromus seedling).
- Lamina 20-50 times longer than large, more or less hairy.
- Ligule membranous, dentate, auricles absent.
- Height: 20-60 cm. Cespitose.
- Stem slender, without hairs.
- Leaves with short ligule, ovate and torn, smooth, flat, narrow, elongated and pointed, hairy on lamina and leaf sheath. Leaf sheath fused upto 2/3 of it's length.
- Inflorescence : slack panicle, inclined, composed of clustered branches. Awns inclined at maturity. Branches clustered, generally shorter than spikelets, isolated. Spikelets 2-5 cm, 8-20 florets. Florets recovering, glabrous or hairy, purplish or greenish. Glumes ovate and unequal. Panicle unilateral after flowering.
