- Cotyledon linear.
- Leaves linear, lightly sheathed, glabrous.
- Height:10-60 cm.
- Stem round in section.
- Leaves in rosette, glabrous, the first leaves linear, very narrow and not petiolate the rest linear and petiolate.
- Flowers hermaphrodite, pedicels with 3 green sepals and 3 petals, free, white or pink. Inflorescence in terminal whorls (umbel in appearance) with peduncle sometimes foliate layered and radicant.
- Fruits : mucronate achenes disposed in whorls.
- Risk of confusion with: species of genus Alisma at seedling stage.
- Biological type : perennial with rhizomes.
