Adult plant:

- Height: 50-100 cm.

- Stem glabrous, herbaceous, green erect, cylindrical with clustered, spread branches.

- Leaves reduced to scales, with spur not prickly at base.

- Flower green-yellow, solitary or doubled, borne on long peduncles.

- Fruits red dotted once ripe, peduncles with thickened upper part.

- Plant diuretic, roots served as syrup. Species rare in crops.

- Biological type: perennial with rhizomes.
