- Cotyledons elliptical to ovate, with rounded tip, sessile.
- Leaves divided.
- Height: 40-140 cm.
- Stem stiff, erect, angular, generally reddish or brownish, downy, strongly branched out, shaped like panicle.
- Leaves pinnate till 10 cm long often rolled, green dark on upper face, tomentose and white on the lower face.
- Flower yellowish to red in capitulum (2.5-3 mm long) with very numerous short pedicels in clustered branches of the panicle.
- Fruits: achene glabrous 2 mm.
- Plant which can cause hay fever and other allergies. But it is also a popular medicine used like emmenagogue tonic and antispasmodic.
- Risk of confusion with Artemisia verlotiorum Lamotte.
