- Cotyledons elliptical, with rounded tip, more or less petiolate.
- Entire leaves, elliptical to ovate, with entire margin.
- Height: 30 100 cm.
- Stem pubescent at upper part, very large, slender, prostate, decumbent.
- Leaves rhombic ovate, attenuated at base and at top, margin slightly wavy. Lamina pale green with brown marks or entirely reddish with slight markings.
- Flowers sometimes axillary, perianth with 2 3 pieces. Flowers forming a false spike, terminal pointed tuft, greenish or reddish, axilaries form glomerules and terminal panicles.
- Fruits longer than sepals (2,5 3 mm), ovate elongated, rounded in shape, dehiscent.
