- Cotyledons elliptical, with tip rounded, more or less petiolate.

- Entire leaves, elliptical with ovate, with entire margin.


Adult plant snapshot Adult plant:

- Height: 20 80 cm.

- Stem erect more or less hairy simple or simply branched.

- Leaves dark green on upper face, rhomboid ovate, angular, rapidly attenuated petiole.

- Flowers greenish in slight axillary spike and in terminal raceme. Bracts slightly prickly, perianth of 5 ovate pieces.

- Fruit ovoid, dehiscent. Species rare in crops. Triazine resistant populations in Italy and Spain.

- Risk of confusion with Amaranthus hybridus L.

- Biological type: annual.
