- Inflorescence : panicle on erect axis; flowers with acuminate, pink or purplish petals ; stigmas 0.3-0.8 mm.

- Fruit : fruitlets 2-3 mm, lateral pericarp thickish, opaque.

- Risk of confusion with: Alisma plantago-aquatica L. (however A. lanceolata is smaller and with thinner leaves).

- Biological type : perennial.
