- Stem upright, branched, glabrous, hollow, angularly grooved.

- Foliage leaves: lower leaves trifid lobed, stem leaves usually bipinnate ; segments oblong ovate, sharply serrate; terminal segments large; uppermost stem leaves trifid with oblong pointed segments.

- Flowers small (about 3 mm), white; in large multiflorous, terminal umbels.

- Fruit : schizocarp ovate, dispermous, light- to dark brown, 3-5 mm long, caraway-like.

- Biological type: perennial

- Spread: rarely on fields in Great-Britain (only in moist locations), common in gardens and orchards.
